Hi, this is Sunday from Nutritional Designs. And I want to talk to you about a great spice. You are all probably going, oh my gosh she’s going to talk about turmeric, or however you want to say it. But actually today I’m going to talk about ginger. So when you look at the history of those two spices, and ginger is a huge part of this. There’s a long ancient history with the use of ginger.
Now, ginger is something I actually recommend a lot more than sometimes I realize, because I love it in some simple forms. Ginger tea is by far one of the things I recommend the most when it comes to certain of types of tea. Because ginger is so soothing for the digestive system. It kind of helps stimulate digestion. It kind of helps stimulate appetite. Uh-oh. Don’t freak out when I just said that, you’re going to be like, oh I’ve got an appetite. Don’t want to do that. That’s not the case.
Ginger can stimulate appetite beautiful in people who need that little stimulation. And it literally comes down to people on certain medications or doing certain treatment plans that unfortunately their appetite might change and ginger is outstanding.
You can actually do ginger as a tea, you can find tea bags and brewed ginger. You can actually buy the ginger root and you can slice some slices of ginger, the ginger root into water and actually boil them and it will release what you are looking for. Or you could even just do a nice good powdered ginger, mix that and do tea in that way. Add a little bit of like a local raw honey and it’s going to be delicious.
But very, very awesome and very wonderful for digestion. I use it literally with my daughter since the time she could sip on tea, for any tummy aches or anytime there was any complaint on the stomach.
Now ginger comes in a few other forms. I do like the crystalized ginger. I do kind of gravitate towards that one more for like motion sickness or people who, like people who have problems in cars as they’re driving, or whether you are on a boat and you are just a little rocky, the chewable ginger forms can be very, very beneficial. You can keep them with you. Throw them in a bag and just there they are when you need them, so pretty brilliant that way.
Now if we really have to go to an extreme, and we’re just not getting certain things down and even the tea’s not quite working, then I go to nice concentrated ginger capsules. And this way we can get extreme high potency. Now the beauty of ginger, so far I’ve just kind of mentioned the digestion. Kind of that motion sickness type of thing that can happen. But ginger is also a brilliant anti-inflammatory in the body so it has other properties. Great for the gall bladder and the liver. And it just does have amazing health properties throughout.
So enjoy some ginger every now and then. If you don’t have any issues per say, ginger still is brilliant to get and incorporate into your diet. I love ginger. It’s a spice I love. I love the zing and I just love that flavor so for me it’s just something that is a staple in my house.
So, alright, hope you enjoyed that segment and keep a lookout, we’ve got more coming and be healthy, be well and until then, can’t wait to talk to you next time.
