Q. My daughter had one spot which the dr. informed us was Molluscum- he told us it would go away naturally but could take a long time. It is now spreading (intial spot was on her torso)- She now has spots on her arm so clearly it’s spreading. Do you have any treatments for this? – Holly

OUR RESPONSE: I would start with a few things, first make sure that she is doing Vitamin D and Omega 3’s and then we really need to hit her immune system. I would recommend Astragalus, we will use this in viral warts also so the cross-over for molluscum will work just as well. As for dosing on the Astragalus regardless of age I would recommend 3 capsules twice daily.  As for Vitamin D and Omega 3’s I would dose based on age and weight, so if you want to stop in we can discuss what dose would be most appropriate. The last thing to add in would be a probiotic.  I would recommend Orthobiotic once daily preferably at bedtime. There is huge immunity in the intestinal tract so we need to keep that strong and if it is slightly off we can see issues in the skin. Let me know how it is going and if we need to address something further then we can do so.

Q. I use to have colitis which is no longer, but with my last colonoscopy I have diverticulitis. I am currently taking phyllium everyday & slippery elm and have discontinued most meat out of my diet and seem to feel better. Is there any possiblity that I am able to ever get rid of diverticulitis with any other supplements? – Mary

OUR RESPONSE: The fiber and slippery elm is great, glad to see you have found success with them.  The inflammation that is in the gut is high and the more things to decrease irritation, thus inflammation is essential.  I break GI health into 4 essential pieces. 1st is probiotic use.  I would recommend a combination of bacteria’s with Saccharomyces in it,  I would use Orthobiotic.  The uniqueness of Sacc. is that it decreases hyper-reactive tissue in the GI, thus decreasing irritability.  2nd one of my favorite products called GI Fortify.  It is a combination that includes fiber, aloe, slippery elm, marshmallow (this is a plant, not a man made corn syrup product), DGL Licorice, L-Glutamine and a few other GI loving products.  This blend is necessary to lower inflammation, repair and re-establish healthy function and energy to GI tissue. 3rd an Omega 3 product.  The essential fats like flax and fish oils are essential for all body tissue and richly needed by the GI.  4th a digestive enzyme.  If we have taken the time to heal, repair, re-energize and re-establish healthy tissue the last thing you want to do is pass undigested food into the intestines.  I recommend 1-2 tablets with meals, not snacks, and if you have a history of constipation I will add in 2 at bedtime on an empty stomach.  I do not want to see these used always and forever, but as you need to, to repair and then put aside.  Hope this helps continue the progress you have already made.

Q. I am approximately 7 weeks pregnant and suffering from a yeast infection. I read that flushing apple cider vinegar would alleviate the symptoms and kill off the yeast; which has been helping. However, I have just read that the mucous plug does not form until the 7-8 week. Have I possibly hurt my baby? -Wendi

OUR RESPONSE:

I would not worry about the baby.  Baby has other ways to protect itself, not just from the treatment, but the infection itself.J  The infection is what I worry about more and clearing this up is very important.  I know that you are early in your pregnancy, but a healthy vaginal area is important for delivery.  That is when baby gets inoculated with all of your good flora.  Keeping this area full of good probiotics is essential for you and baby.  Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (with “mother”, unpasteurized/unfiltered) contains probiotics, not to mention pectins for the immune system.  Just make sure that it is the right kind of ACV.  I would also recommend that you use an oral probiotics for the next few week, making sure that it has about 4-6 different bacteria’s in it to make sure that your entire body is protected.  Then starting 3-4 weeks before delivery take an oral probiotic at bedtime each night to make sure that baby will get the best from you!
