OUR RESPONSE:
Hopefully they have talked to you in great detail about food choices that you will need to follow, since this can be a part of this lose. Protein is essential for hair follicle health, so gastric bypass really effects how you digest and break down protein, so you will need to look at a protein powder and use this on a daily basis to maintain protein status. With this protein, the follicle will need biotin, b-vitamins (you will need to do B-12 separately as an under the tongue lozenge, since your B-12 breakdown will be changed) and omega 3’s (preferably fish oil, since digestion of fats is also compromised with gastric bypass so flaxseed breakdown will be difficult). I recommend Biotin Forte from Integrative Therapeutics, since this is Biotin and B vitamins together and it is a high potency. A B-12 of at least 1000mcg daily dissolved under the tongue, not only is this important for the body, but great for metabolism. A fish oil with Vitamin D would also be great and I would recommend a fish oil with an EPA>1200mg and a DHA>900mg. The vitamin D will be helpful to the thyroid and since this system can show hair lose if compromised the D will help here. I am a big believer in strong, health organs of elimination, kidney, liver, gastro-intestinal tract, and when one is compromised the other two will have to take on more work. Another place where hair health is seen is in the kidneys, so if the above options do not do all we need them to do, then we will need to look further. Good Luck.

Q. I am going to have a gastric bypass in may or June & they said I would loose some hair at the beginning & I should check on what I needed to do to help from looseing to much & keep hair growing. What do you recommend? -Cheryl
Q. Does African Mango really help weight loss? -Linda
OUR RESPONSE: From all that I have been able to track down since about a year ago, when I started to get inquiries on African Mango, look positive. All the insight into it stresses the fact you need to make sure you keep the dose high and take it three times daily. I always point out to people that weight loss is an effect of many things all together, diet, health status, exercise, sleep, and detox ability. When all things are properly combined the body will be ready for fat loss. Supplements like Green Tea, African Mango, Rhodiola, Ginseng, 5-HTP & Guarana can then come in and do a great job. Good Luck.
Q. I just had a hysterectomy and started researching HRT. Are there any doctors that work with adjusting HRTs? Do you do compounding? Help! – Carol
OUR RESPONSE: We do not do compounding, but we do make recommendations to your Dr. based off blood work as to what would be best for you. If your Dr. is willing to run the list of test you need and if he/she is willing to prescribe off of the recommendations we make we can help you with that. We can suggest a few compounding pharmacies that we like, but the first place to check is if your insurance will let you go anywhere for compounding, or if they have a preferred provider for these services. With any HRT that you choose, remember that we want solid function out of those hormones so make sure you continue to do your Omega’s and Multi (keep the B vitamins high). Also Indoplex with DIM for healthy estrogen metabolism along with an occasional hormone cleanse may be in order.
Q. Do you carry Rasberry Ketones and White Kidney Bean Extrac? – Patti
OUR RESPONSE: You are the second person to ask me this today. I believe that Dr Oz was promoting these products. I have carried the White Kidney Bean Extract in the past. I currently have it on order for the person who inquired today. Now on to the Raspberry Ketones. I was not familiar with this and currently cannot find it from any of my suppliers. The fat burning abilities that it claims to have look promising, but I have not seen much research on it yet. I know that he is also recommending L-Carnitine and with looking at a few concepts about raspberry ketones and the combined effects it really is playing into creating clean cellular energy. Which means not just creating a scary metabolism boost in you like phentermine but a healthy energy for you boosting your metabolism in a way that will keep it strong over time. A few things used currently like green tea extracts and panax ginseng are nice ways to boost a healthy metabolism and if you need to suppress an appetite then hoodia or 5-HTP can have great effects.
