Q. Do you have anything natural to help with ADD? – Audrey

OUR RESPONSE:
There are so many options for ADD issues. We need to always look at the basics. First Omega 3’s and a solid Multi high in B’s as well as a diet that is high in healthy proteins (these are needed for neurotransmitter health). During the winter the basics include things like Vitamin D. If we balance the basics and we are still having issues then we can help relieve this with products like L-Theanine and/or 5-HTP. L-Theanine is great to slow a racing brain without sedating. I recommend this in people who get stuck trying to solve the world’s problems in the middle of the night as well as when the brain is jumping from one thing to another so fast that a single task cannot get finished. 5-HTP gives the body a needed serotonin boost, and with Serotonin being your feel good neurotransmitter, improving this can give you a much needed sense of wellbeing. Since diet plays such a part in this issue I would highly recommend that you attend some of our cooking classes and even starting with our ultimate nutrition you could stand to learn a lot about food, variety and changes that may benefit this issue. Everything that I have suggested currently we can apply to either kids or adults we just need to adjust dosing, so let us know if we can work with you further on this.

Q. My daughter had one spot which the dr. informed us was Molluscum- he told us it would go away naturally but could take a long time. It is now spreading (intial spot was on her torso)- She now has spots on her arm so clearly it’s spreading. Do you have any treatments for this? – Holly

OUR RESPONSE: I would start with a few things, first make sure that she is doing Vitamin D and Omega 3’s and then we really need to hit her immune system. I would recommend Astragalus, we will use this in viral warts also so the cross-over for molluscum will work just as well. As for dosing on the Astragalus regardless of age I would recommend 3 capsules twice daily.  As for Vitamin D and Omega 3’s I would dose based on age and weight, so if you want to stop in we can discuss what dose would be most appropriate. The last thing to add in would be a probiotic.  I would recommend Orthobiotic once daily preferably at bedtime. There is huge immunity in the intestinal tract so we need to keep that strong and if it is slightly off we can see issues in the skin. Let me know how it is going and if we need to address something further then we can do so.

Q. My 11 year old has flat warts on his face. They are spreading quickly even though he is using a topical RX from his dermalogist. Since warts attach people how are immune deficient is there anything that you recommend to help boost his immune system? – Lynn

OUR RESPONSE:  I am a big fan of astragalus used in warts.  I would recommend in an 11 year old that we dose 3 capsules twice daily for the first bottle and then 3 capsules daily (1 dose at bedtime) and we should see significant improvement in 1 month and by 2 months most should be gone.    The dosing for each capsule should be as astragalus root at about 450mg per capsule.  This can be great for the immune system and since often warts are viral it does have a unique effect against viruses.  As for any boosting of immunity GI health is imperative!  So if there are any digestive issue we need to address this immediately, constipation, diarrhea, smelly gas, stomach aches etc…..Let us know if we can help further with this if needed.  As for topical application I highly recommend a product called Ozonated Gel.  It will boost immunity to the skin directly.  Ozonated Gel is a personal favorite of mine and have used it successfully for mole removal and warts on hands and feet.

Q. My 11 year old son smells like metal all of the time and it is worse when he sweats. Any idea why? – Cathy

OUR RESPONSE: It sounds to me like we need to do some detox work.  I would have you do work on his elimination systems and this would utilize capsules and tablets and then half way through do a flush to his body and cells.  The skin will try to take on more elimination if there is congestion (not failure) in the other systems.  Not to worry this is not uncommon.  Stop on by or if you are not close email me back and we can work up a plan.

Q. I am approximately 7 weeks pregnant and suffering from a yeast infection. I read that flushing apple cider vinegar would alleviate the symptoms and kill off the yeast; which has been helping. However, I have just read that the mucous plug does not form until the 7-8 week. Have I possibly hurt my baby? -Wendi

OUR RESPONSE:

I would not worry about the baby.  Baby has other ways to protect itself, not just from the treatment, but the infection itself.J  The infection is what I worry about more and clearing this up is very important.  I know that you are early in your pregnancy, but a healthy vaginal area is important for delivery.  That is when baby gets inoculated with all of your good flora.  Keeping this area full of good probiotics is essential for you and baby.  Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (with “mother”, unpasteurized/unfiltered) contains probiotics, not to mention pectins for the immune system.  Just make sure that it is the right kind of ACV.  I would also recommend that you use an oral probiotics for the next few week, making sure that it has about 4-6 different bacteria’s in it to make sure that your entire body is protected.  Then starting 3-4 weeks before delivery take an oral probiotic at bedtime each night to make sure that baby will get the best from you!
